Leigh Mathews joins Purposed as Head of Social Impact

Purposed is delighted to announce that Leigh Mathews has joined Purposed as Head of Social Impact.

Leigh is a highly experienced social impact consultant with over 14 years diverse experience in non-profit management, project design and management, social enterprise, philanthropy, and child rights and protection.

Leigh will be consulting with Purposed’s corporate clients, not for profits and peak bodies to help define and operationalise their social impact strategies and measurement frameworks, to ensure our client’s success in achieving better, sustainable community outcomes.

“With a strong interest in the intersection between innovation, development, business and philanthropy, I am excited about working with Purposed to harness the power of people and technology to solve complex social problems, particularly those affecting the most marginalised population – children.“

Leigh’s many achievements include

  • recognition as an expert in the issues of institutionalisation, residential care of children, and voluntourism
  • Co-founder the ReThink Orphanages Network, working to prevent the unnecessary institutionalisation of children overseas by shifting the way Australia engages with overseas aid and development
  • Founder of Alto Global Consulting, who work closely with clients from around the globe to deliver expert consulting services across the spectrum of international development, philanthropy, responsible tourism, child protection and community engagement
  • recipient of the Victorian Young Australian of the Year Award 2009
  • recipient of the Australian Leadership Award 2009
  • recipient of the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World Award (Human Rights and World Peace) 2009
  • 2014 alumni of the Asialink Leaders Program delivered by the University of Melbourne.
